IEIF and PwC Strategy& publish the third edition of the study on Professional real estate financing market
We are pleased to announce the third edition publication of the study realised by IEIF and PWC on the « French real estate financing market for professionals ».
The 2021 study analyses the 2020 data and provides a complete overview of the financing market during the sanitary crisis, as well as forecasting elements for the current year 2021.
If we consider 2019 as the highest level of the financing market cycle following the previous financial crisis, 2020’s highlight is a professionals real estate financing market setback of 23% on a constant sample, correlated with real estate invtesment market contraction but also a strong shrinking of construction starts. This decline was accompanied by an increased selectivity of files by the sector’s financiers.
We detail the market evolution in terms of different asset types invested and projects financed, as well as the characteristics of the financings granted and the terms of loans.
It is all of these results, supported by in-depth interviews with all contributors on the outlook, that we were pleased to present to you on 14 October.
2021 edition outlines
There are 19 contributors to this third study edition:
- 11 Banks (investment banks and retail banks): Banque Palatine, BRED Banques Populaires, BNP Paribas, Crédit Agricole CIB, Dekabank, La Banque Postale, LCL, Natixis, PBB, SOCFIM and Société Générale
- 8 debt funds and insurance companies: Acofi Gestion, AEW, Allianz Real Estate, Amundi Asset Management, Aviva Investors, BNP Paribas Asset Management, La Banque Postale Asset Management and SCOR Investment Partners.
The total assets of the sample studied in this study is €83 billion and the 2020 production analysed is €20 billion, against respectively €75 billions and €26 billions in the previous edition. Thisp production contraction reflects the market contraction in its whole.
